Necessity is the mother.......

Friday 28 June 2013

This has been by far the easiest and most exciting DIY on my blog. So easy and so much fun that I wanted one for every room.  Ok, ok........ I know you hear overexcited and overkill in my tone. But, if I don't say these things, you guys wont get how awesome these are to make and then use everyday.

I saw this on pintrest, and read up a little about it. The lady who brought this to the world's notice made them because her husband couldn't stand artificial room freshners. Talk about- invention is the mother of necessity. Kudos to women power! Go here to see the detailed story and scroll down to see my version.

Step 1. Collect few mason jars/bottles of the size you like

Step 2: Pick a flavor you like.

Option 1: Oranges, Cinnamon, Star Anise, Cloves

 Option 2: Lime, Rosemary

Option 3: Room Therapy's contribution to the world; we call it  APPLE PIE.

Apple, Cinnamon, Pure Vanilla essence- I would have loved a vanilla pod {oh well}

Step 3: Throw some floating candles in the mix

Enjoy......

Infinitea

Monday 24 June 2013

I went here in college, went here when I was working and then when I got engaged and still go here now. Love this place. I overuse the word love on my posts sometimes. But, I do promise to cut it down after I finish telling you about Infinitea. This places sells tea. Super simple. So the decor is completely TEA-ish.  The posters that decorate the walls, the tea storage, the graffiti in the corners- all scream TEA. Kind of a very cool, kitsch setting I must say. I love {last time I promise} the hour glass timers and the tea pots they use. I feel that sometimes the aesthetics of a place gets enhanced with the way they serve and use normal things in a new style. What say?

This is new and some sort of a paper art. Super tempted to try and make it one of our DIY's. If I do- you'll obviously hear about it.

scribbles on my mind

I met Vandana straight out of college. I interned under her and went on to work under her for a good year and a half. Her precision in work is immaculate. She would get the best out of me and my fledgling knowledge about architecture.

An architect by profession, but a genius with art; today, it makes me proud to dedicate this post to her work.

Scribbles of my mind is not just an assortment of work done over the years but reflection of my thoughts and experiences- Vandana Naik

Here are a few of my favorites from her work; if you want to contact her or see more of her works go here

 Have a great week.

Poor Browns

Saturday 22 June 2013

I cannot pretend to be impartial about the colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones, and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns. Winston Churchill

 I can't agree more. It is the colours that bring so much joy to a space.

Pyar Hua...{falling in love}

I'm in the mood to listen to some old hindi music.
Like this song here {play in the background while you go through this post}

Lazy weekend for me. All I want to do is lay in bed all day; and if my bedroom looks like this..why not?! Sigh!

Home OffIce

Wednesday 19 June 2013

This is a true example how life changed from the black & white TV days to colour to HD. Jokes apart, this is my home office before I decided to revamp it.

Problems I faced BEFORE

1. Laziness [it's almost everybody's problem, even though you have creative juices in you]
2. Too much light. I know light is good, overdose doesn't work for a space you want to use your computer or if you live in a TROPICAL country like me- its freaking hot in summer.
3. Clutter [don't judge]
4. Old furniture [actually new; read:BORING furniture]

Here's what I did.

1. killed the laziness [hell yeah!]
2. got double layered blinds [it's so comfortable, that I can sleep on my desk now]
3. D E C L U T T E R ed
4. used the same furniture, but revamped it a little bit
5. added a pin up board
6. added a chalk board
7. BELIVE [d] in myself
8. added fun knick knacks
9. added some green [terrarium]

my very own HOME OFFICE....tada!
